At Lemonade D.E.L.S.A. (Developing Effective Life Solutions Actively), because I come from a military connected family legacy, and an impactful, traumatic and relevant Acquired Brain Injury journey, we are passionate about Nationally and Globally Acknowledging, Appreciating and Perpetually Celebrating the members of United States Armed Forces, (our Veterans and Active Military) service members, and their Family, 365 Days of the Year. Our desire is to influence the reawakening of active, frequent demonstration of Acknowledgement, Gratitude and Appreciation from ALL members of our communities, nationwide, as well as globally, and beyond the usual and customary special military holidays!!!
You see, in the year 2017, I became an active A.B.I .school student and enrolled in a creative writing class for the brain injured (A.B.I. - Acquired Brain Injury). After almost 8 years of dormant, innate desire, and ability to write, in November 2017, I wrote my first draft of 'My Dear “Young” Military Veteran'. I shared it on social media, but the Holy Spirit led me to remove it because it was intended for a “greater” purpose. The full vision became clear in October 2023, when Traci Wooden, an old church acquaintance, recognized by “being,” after losing touch for 17 years. She gave my vision LIFE!!!
My Dear "Young" Military Veteran
PROJECT HISTORY
As a Faith-Guided woman, I speak, act, write and take action as I am led by the compass within. Unbeknown to the masses, I have been experiencing recurrent brain injuries that affect me cognitively, debilitatingly enough to impact my information processing, as well as my physical and mental stamina. The good news IS that I appear “physically well and intellectually sound.” The bad news IS that I appear “physically well and intellectually sound!” Yet, I press on; I keep my Faith, protect my Peace, live in Hope and constant Effort. It is incredibly difficult, but Hope leaves the door open for sudden inspiration! And in the year 2017, this “Gift” arrived in my heart and soul: My Dear “Young” Military Veteran! It took me
three painful hours to write, in one sitting, compared to my formerly 20-minute customary first-non-edited-draft, writing flow!!! Yet, I was so moved by such truthful words that this inspiration went from Spirit-Life to Paper-Life to Lifetime
Purpose Reality!!!
My passion for military service members, and their families, is the result of my personal, relevant connection to the “lived family experience,” of being the daughter of my father, who served honorably in the United States Marine Corps; a brother who served honorably in the United States Army and my youngest brother who, also served honorably, in the United States Air Force. Our family’s journey has been filled with honor, pride, awards, benefits, joys, deployment sorrows, safe return’s ecstasy, as well as diverse sacrifices.
The most severe sacrifice experienced by our family was that, 50% of my family of 6 members, participated in 3 modern WARS: Iraq’s “Desert Storm,” Panama invasion, known as “Operation Just Cause,” and Afghanistan, known as “Operation Enduring Freedom.”
Our dedicated military soldiers demonstrated commitment and valor in service, and serves as PROOF that, FREEDOM is not FREE!!!
A tangible and intangible PRICE is always/has been and will be PAID by someone! The impact of this realization was the primary source of Inspiration for My Dear “Young” Military Veteran!
Although I did NOT directly pay such price, for our country, my personal work experience as an in-field Field Liability Claims/Risk Management Investigator DID exposed me to some relatable military trauma events such as:
mangled vehicles containing dead bodies, major infrastructure electrical equipment vs. motor-vehicles, major fires that shut down freeways, photographing motor-vehicles vs. major electrical equipment collisions, inhabiting human body remains, seeing pieces of brain matter inadvertently walking on human blood, photographing accidental electrocuted, charred full human body remains, electric grid equipment explosions, etc.
These traumatic events contributed to my multiple invisible, but adversely debilitating and life altering brain injuries disability. Yet, to the general public, everything “appears” as what IS considered “the norm,” along with standard expectations! This life altering experience is another reason that I’m PASSIONATE about Acknowledging, Appreciating and Celebrating our military service members, their families and those that are “secretly” considered invisible disable, as I am! We have a desire to “Independently Thrive,” “behave/appear” as “able body” while hurting and being extremely CHALLENGED in SILENCE!!!
Our aspiration is to donate 25% of our profits, or maintain
an annual symbolic contribution to organizations such as
The Young Marines, the American Legion/Auxiliary,
Financial Coach4U, and the House of Panama “Casita”
Museum at Balboa Park, in San Diego, CA (in Honor of
every Panameño(a) who serves/has served in the United
States Armed Forces.
